Common Questions About Our Consulting, Coaching & Workshop Services
Here are the things people ask us most. If your question isn't here, just reach out — we'd love to hear from you.
General
We're a people-centered consulting, coaching, workshop, and speaking firm. We partner with individuals, teams, and organizations to build emotional intelligence, well-being, and genuine human connection. Whether you're a parent navigating a career change, a team rebuilding trust, or a leader shaping culture — there's a place here for you.
Not at all. We serve individuals, families, students, faith communities, elder groups, military families, and anyone navigating life's transitions. If you're looking for growth, connection, or support — you belong here.
We're based in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, but we serve clients across the South and beyond — both in-person and virtually. Wherever you are, we can work together.
It depends on the engagement. A discovery call is always free — that's where we learn about your needs and discuss options that fit your budget. No surprises, no pressure.
Consulting
Strategic HR consulting focused on culture transformation, employee engagement, and employee experience. We help organizations build environments where people actually want to show up and contribute.
It varies. Some projects are focused 4-6 week sprints. Others are ongoing advisory relationships. We design the timeline around your needs and goals.
Absolutely. We specialize in small businesses (2-50 employees), nonprofits, and community organizations. You don't need to be a Fortune 500 company to deserve great people strategy.
Coaching
Consulting is about solving organizational challenges — culture, engagement, strategy. Coaching is about you — your goals, your growth, your next chapter. Sometimes they overlap, and that's okay. We'll figure out the right fit together.
No. We coach individuals at every stage of life — professionals navigating career changes, parents returning to work, young adults finding their path, leaders building self-awareness, and anyone looking for clarity and growth.
It starts with a free discovery call. If coaching is the right fit, we design a personalized plan — typically 6-12 sessions over 3-6 months. Sessions are virtual or in-person, 45-60 minutes each.
Workshops & Speaking
Always. Every workshop is tailored to your group's size, goals, and challenges. We don't do cookie-cutter. Tell us what you need and we'll design something that fits.
We've facilitated workshops for groups of 8 to over 100 people. The format adapts — smaller groups get more intimate conversation, larger groups get more structured interaction.
Melissa's signature keynotes cover emotional intelligence, resilience, culture transformation, belonging, and the courage to redesign work and life. Every keynote is interactive and grounded in real human connection.
Start with a discovery call or send an inquiry to info@pplbydesign.com. We'll discuss your event, audience, and goals — then design a keynote that fits perfectly.
A keynote is a stage presentation — typically 30 to 90 minutes — designed to inspire, challenge, and energize an audience. A workshop is a hands-on, interactive session where participants work through exercises, conversations, and tools together. Melissa offers both, and many clients book a keynote for a large audience followed by a smaller workshop for deeper work.
Absolutely. Melissa regularly speaks at faith community events, retreats, and gatherings. Her topics on resilience, belonging, grief, and human connection resonate deeply in faith-based settings. Reach out through the contact page to discuss your event.
More Questions
Emotional intelligence (EQ) coaching helps you understand your own emotions, build self-awareness, and develop the relational skills to lead, connect, and communicate more effectively. At People by Design, Melissa uses the Six Seconds EQ model — one of the most research-backed frameworks in the world — to guide individuals and teams toward better decisions, stronger relationships, and more intentional leadership.
Yes. Coaching is available virtually nationwide, and workshops can be delivered in person or virtually depending on your needs. Melissa is based in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and has worked with clients and spoken at events across the country — coast to coast. Virtual options are available for organizations and individuals anywhere.
If you're seeing high turnover, low engagement, conflict that never quite resolves, or a general sense that people are going through the motions, those are signals that your culture needs attention. A culture consultant helps you get to the root causes — not just the symptoms — and design a path forward that's grounded in how people actually experience your organization.
